A group
of "Herzo Survivors" (circa 1955-1958)
received an alert that the village of Herzogenaurach
would be celebrating the 1000th anniversary during
the summer of 2002. They invited us to attend and
participate in this celebration. The "parade"
commemorated the entire 1000 year history of the
town- each decade was represented by various groups
from the area. We represented the 50's and Herzo
Base. A crowd of about 20,000 viewed the parade.
Our group, clad in white, commemorative T-shirts,
followed a vintage jeep over the entire parade route.
After the parade we went to the local park where
a traditional Bierfest continued on into the night....
good beer, good comradeship, a great time was had
by all. Andy
